Overview

The Department of Nephrology initially started in 2006 with six dialysis beds in two shifts but has grown to add 27 dialysis beds over the years. It has facilities for 40 nephrology ward (IPD) patients, OPD services and also deal with emergency cases involving ICU, MICU, CICU, PICU, CTICU and casualty.

The department aspires to prepare future physicians who will contribute to improving the health of individuals with kidney disease. It has the vision to become a leading National centre in Renal Research, Education and care of patients with kidney disease.

The department has produced 22 research publications and 14 different events organised on nephrology. The research work covers the areas of Falciparum Malaria-induced acute kidney injury (AKI), Nephrotic Syndrome Renal Transplant and Type 1 & Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

The Department manages facilities for 40 nephrology ward (IPD) patients, OPD services and also deals with Emergency cases involving ICU, MICU, CICU, PICU, CTICU and Casualty.

Aim & Vision

The Nephrology Department at KIMS aspires to prepare future physicians who will contribute to improving the health of individuals with kidney disease and has the vision to become a leading national centre in renal research, education and care of patients with kidney disease.
